COVID-19 Update

To our patients,

As the world continues to reel from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope that everyone is following proper hygiene, social distancing, and stay-at-home guidelines. Vytalus Medical Group has been at the forefront of implementing procedural changes within our practice to mitigate any potential exposures to communicable diseases, including the COVID-19 virus. We are reviewing updated CDC information on a daily basis, and will continue to adapt to the ever-changing environment that we are currently experiencing.

For those who were unaware, Vytalus Medical Group divided our two office locations into separate “well” and “sick” sites over 3 weeks ago.

Our Atascocita location (the “sick” site) has been designated as the site where we are caring for our acutely ill patients, including those with any cough, fever, or potential exposures to COVID-19.

Our Kingwood location (the “well” site) is only allowing patients that do not exhibit any signs or symptoms of potential communicable diseases to enter the office, and will continue to see our patients for routine visits such as follow-up visits and medication refills.

As stated in our previous e-mail, we will not be rotating staff between our two locations as to minimize any potential cross contaminations (our internal version of social distancing). This implementation has been highly effective in accomplishing its intended objective.

Patients can continue to do their part by limiting the number of persons accompanying them to appointments, and, when possible, refraining from bringing any children into the clinic locations.

Introducing Telemedicine
Vytalus Medical Group has also incorporated Telemedicine visits as an additional way to receive health care from wherever you are. Telemedicine is a two-way videoconference between a patient and a healthcare clinician. The visit is as easy as clicking on a link in a text message or e-mail on a device with audio and video capabilities (smartphone, iPad, laptop, etc). Please be aware that certain health conditions may require an in-office visit due to their complexity or the need for a more complete physical exam.

Utilizing this platform, we have provided care to our patients at home, work, in their (parked) cars, and even on a boat. Our Telemedicine visits are secure, HIPAA-compliant interactions that are integrated directly into our patient’s electronic medical records to maintain continuity of care.

There is a lot of misinformation pertaining to COVID-19 floating around out there. We encourage our patients to stay informed by reviewing information contained on the CDC website, and not from Google or Facebook.
